On August 15-18, 2023, the "2023 Academic Annual Meeting of the Chinese Rare Earth Society" was successfully held. During the meeting, the establishment meeting of the Rare Earth Light Alloy Professional Committee of the China Rare Earth Society was held on August 16th.

Firstly, Professor Yang Zhanfeng, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the China Rare Earth Society, announced the decision to approve the establishment of the "China Rare Earth Society Rare Earth Light Alloy Professional Committee" and the head of its branch offices. After deliberation by the 7th Executive Council of the China Rare Earth Society, it was decided to establish the "China Rare Earth Society Rare Earth Light Alloy Professional Committee", with Professor Liu Yong appointed as the chairman, Professor Chen Xianhua, Researcher Li Dejiang, Professor Liu Shengdan, Professor Yang Hongbo, Researcher Lv Weijie, and Professor Hu Wenxin as the deputy chairman, and Professor Wu Ruizhi as the secretary general. The affiliated unit is Nanchang University.
