The center mainly researches and develops heavy rare earth additives for the metallurgical industry, which  are applied to ferrous metals such as nodular cast iron, vermicular graphite cast iron, wear-resistant alloy white iron, wear-resistant alloy steel, stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, tool and die steel, magnesium alloy, aluminum Alloy, conductive copper, brass and other non-ferrous metals.

    The center has 40 scientific and technical personnel with college degree or above, including 1 professor-level senior engineer and 7 senior engineers ; the central laboratory and pilot workshop cover an area of ​​more than 10,000 square meters ; Spectrum analyzer, atomic absorption spectrophotometer, American Meters Industrial System high temperature (normal temperature) dual-purpose electronic tensile testing machine, low temperature (normal temperature) impact testing machine, Japan Olympus digital image acquisition and analysis system, high frequency infrared Carbon and sulfur analyzers, dynamic abrasive wear testing machines, hardness testers and other professional analysis and testing instruments; have vacuum induction furnaces, intermediate frequency induction furnaces, electrolytic furnaces, electroslag furnaces, high-temperature heat treatment furnaces, EDM cutting machines, CNC machining centers, etc. Pilot test equipment.

The center adheres to technological innovation and takes the road of sustainable development combining research, education and production. It has carried out in-depth cooperation with Beijing Iron and Steel Research Institute, Jiangxi Academy of Sciences, Jiangxi University of Science and Technology, Gannan Normal University and other units, and has achieved a series of scientific research results. It has a leading position in the research and development and application of heavy rare earth yttrium in this industry, and has won the third prize of Jiangxi Science and Technology Progress Award twice.
